Fractured Atlas

We have a fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, to get us going. Fractured Atlas is set up precisely for organizations like Skull + Wind. Using a fiscal sponsor makes sense for us as a new press and for you as supporters of a new press for a few reasons.

While we are not yet equipped to establish the press as a 501c3, we do want your donations to the press to be tax deductible. Our fiscal sponsorship from Fractured Atlas makes that possible. This sponsorship will also give us the ability to apply for grants that require 501c3 designation, use Fractured Atlas’ ticket system, and their stellar support in keeping track of our finances. All of this will prepare us to file as a 501c3 at a later date if that is something we feel is good for the press and our writers.

To use Fractured Atlas’ language: Skull + Wind Press is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Skull + Wind Press must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
